Minor Illness and Common Condition Assessment

In Ontario, this service is publicly funded with no cost to Ontario residents with a valid health card. Pharmacists are able to assess the following minor ailments:

  • Acne (mild)

  • Allergic rhinitis

  • Candidal stomatitis (oral thrush)

  • Canker sores (oral aphthae)

  • Conjunctivitis (bacterial, allergic and viral)

  • Dermatitis (atopic, eczema, allergic and contact)

  • Diaper dermatitis

  • Dysmenorrhea

  • Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

  • Hemorrhoids

  • Herpes labialis (cold sores)

  • Impetigo

  • Insect bites and urticaria (hives)

  • Musculoskeletal sprains and strains

  • Nausea and vomiting in pregnancy

  • Pinworms and threadworms

  • Tick bites, post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent Lyme disease

  • Urinary tract infections (uncomplicated)

  • Vulvovaginal candidiasis (yeast infection)
